MILL FINISH ALUMINIUM Mill finish is the natural colour of aluminium before it is painted. It is cheaper than painted aluminum but just as strong and durable. An unpainted aluminium greenhouse will gradually oxidise producing fine grey powder forms on the surface of the greenhouse. This is the aluminium's natural self protection and it does not harm the greenhouse. Oxidisation occurs quicker in areas of high pollution or in coastal areas.
TOUGHENED GLASS: This greenhouse includes toughened glass as standard. Toughened glass is the best glazing material for use in greenhouses. It is around 6 times stronger than normal glass so it is less likely to break and when it does break toughened glass breaks into harmless small pieces. Toughened glass is heavy which helps to resist wind. Full height toughened glass is supplied in larger size panes of glass with no overlapping glass.
PVC BAR CAPPING: Traditionally greenhouse glass is secured in place using stainless steel or galvanised glazing clips. Green PVC bar capping is neater, stronger and easier to clean. The standard glazing clips are replaced with full length PVC strips which hold the glass along the full length.
LENGTH AND WIDTH: In the SIZES & PRICES chart the first dimension listed is the width and the second dimension is the length. The width refers to the angled gable wall. All sizes quoted are the external greenhouse sizes unless stated otherwise.

POWDER COATED ALUMINIUM: The powder coated finish is more attractive than the stark silver grey colour of mill finish aluminium. It also has excellent weathering properties and retains its gloss and colour superbly. A good example of the finish achieved with powder coating is the finish on your washing machine, which is very similar to our powder coated greenhouses.
VENTILATION: Additional ventilation will improve the air circulation through the greenhouse for better growing results. Automatic openers react to heat to ensure that in hot weather the window will ventilate in your absence. A low level louvred ventilator will provide a healthy air flow through the greenhouse to ensure improved growing conditions and better crops. You should consider which plants you may grow because some plants such as alpines require more ventilation than others.
HEATERS: Heating requirements vary greatly, with less heating required in a sheltered location and more heating required in Scotland. However, one 2 kilowatt fan heater is normally adequate for a 6' x 8' greenhouse anywhere in the UK. Wooden greenhouses are normally cheaper to heat than aluminium greenhouses. Electric heaters normally require a standard domestic 13 amp electricity supply. Propane gas heaters require ventilation when in use.
